Where to Go and What to Do in Ouray

ouraysightsAs Colorado’s self-proclaimed “Outdoor Recreation Capital”, Ouray has a wealth of sights to explore. If you’re planning on visiting during the fall, use this brief guide to help you discover some of the best places you can dine, drink, and have some fun.

Kick the day off on a high note with a warm cup of Joe and a meal to fuel you during the day at Backstreet Bistro on Main Street. For those that want smaller bites, Artisan Bakery is on the southern side of Main Street. Once the day is winding down and you want to share a toast, Ouray Brewery is a fine option or you could head over to the local favorite Mr. Grumpy Pants Brewing. Bon Ton Restaurant and Outlaw Restaurant are other great options, the latter once frequented by the late actor John Wayne.

For family-friendly activities, you can’t go wrong with the Ouray Hot Springs Pool which was extensively renovated and now has a broad variety of pools for people of all ages. Children can splash around in the shallow pool (while being supervised of course) while adults can ease tense muscles in the hot pool or stay active by swimming back and forth in the lap pool. The overlook pool also has a lovely view of the infinity-edge waterfall. Daily passes are only $18 and $12 for adults and children, respectively.
