The Musical Stylings of Liver Down the River

fiddleHave you ever heard of Liver Down the River? No, it’s not a type of food. Liver Down the River consists of six musically talented individuals that have been performing together since 2012. Contrary to musical acts that try and convey a certain important message, Liver Down the River started as a good time band and it remains so to this day. The band has developed a reputation for its distinct sound and high energy performances, performing alongside names like Poor Man’s Whiskey, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Railroad Earth, to name a few.

After meeting each other, Emily Winter and Patrick Storen began playing music together, namely fiddle tunes and lots of Grateful Dead songs. Once they met bass player Derek Abt, guitarist Dylan Ruckel, drummer Cy Fontenot, and keyboardist Tyler Smith, Liver Down the River became a full-fledged, funky band.

Liver Down the River’s music is characterized by improvisational compositions intended to send listeners on a journey. Their music incorporates genres such as bluegrass and funk to create unique adventures that are all about following the soul and persevering. The band released an LP in 2016.

You can catch Liver Down the River performing live next Saturday, July 28 at the Sherbino Theater at 8 pm! It should be lots of fun.
