Take a Ride on Million Dollar Highway

milliondollarLast week we told you about Red Mountain Pass and Million Dollar Highway. In case you’ve never traveled through Million Dollar Highway, it won’t take that long to explore. At just 25 miles, it’s length isn’t much. However, it more than makes up for its relatively short length with plenty of sights and thrills to spare. The fact that the roadway also winds through soaring mountains means the trip will be quite exciting.

Mining was once a common activity in the olden days of Colorado and today, many of these classic mines are still visible. You may wish to consider the Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour which offers a trip through history. On the other hand, you may wish to explore the ghost towns like Animas Forks. At one point in history, these ghost towns were thriving as people sought fame and fortune. It’s a fantastic way to take a glimpse into the past.

Nature lovers may wish to visit the San Juan National Forest which consists of nearly two million acres of majestic mountain peaks, desert, expansive canyons, and lush meadows. Take a hike, ride your bike, go fishing, there is much to see and do and it is all absolutely gorgeous.
