Did you miss out on this year’s Ouray Jeep Raffle? In case you haven’t heard, the raffle managed to rake in a substantial amount of money from its ticket sales, over $90,500 in fact. The majority of the sales were, perhaps not surprisingly, generated from online purchases. The rest of the raffle sales came courtesy of the visitor center.
The nearly $91,000 in ticket sales is no small feat considering the hurdles the Jeep Raffle faced this year. Traditionally, raffle ticket sales are expected to begin around Independence Day, but this year sales were delayed until the beginning of August. With a shorter window of opportunity to sell raffle tickets, the fact that sales inched towards $100,000 is impressive.
The Jeep Raffle is held in October and typically coincides with Ouray’s popular Oktoberfest event, which is a fun celebration open to adults and children alike. The raffle has been going on for decades and it’s become extremely popular. Previous winners have included people from other parts of the country and proceeds from the raffle go towards raising funds for local student scholarships.
