Ice Climbing Lessons for the Younger Crowd

mrfreezelairHave you been to the Ouray Ice Park yet? If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? There is no cost to visit the park and there are lots of different things to see and do for adults and children alike. This weekend, the park is also hosting an event for children looking to get their feet wet with the exciting and challenging sport of ice climbing!

On Saturday, Ouray Ice Park will host the Kids Climbing College (KCC), a complimentary opportunity for youth between the ages of seven to seventeen that want to learn the sport. The KCC presents the sport in a fun and exciting way and it includes a huge forty-foot “Kids Wall” comprised of a massive slab of ice expanding over 130 feet in width. Although it’s intended for kids, the wall has numerous distinct routes with varying levels of difficulty for beginners as well kids and teenagers with previous experience.

The KCC begins at 10 am until 2 pm and admission is on a first-come-first-serve basis. The San Juan Mountain Guides will take care of providing the necessary gear including helmets, boots, and ice tools. You can learn more about the event by visiting https://mtnguide.net/ouray-ice-climbing/more-ice-climbing/kids-ice-climbing/.
