Thanks to its distinct geological location and uplift, Ouray has the perk of hot springs which are created by the pressure and heat. These springs have been used by visitors and early settlers for centuries. Among the hot springs, perhaps the most well-known of them are the ones located at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool.
Something you may not know about the Ouray Hot Springs Pool and fitness center is the fact that it’s listed on the National Historic Register. The facility opened way back in the 1920s but if you were to pay a visit to it today, you’d think it opened just recently. In the older days, Ouray locals purchased memberships and businesses which assisted with building the pools, and the tradition continues to this day.
The massive renovation of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool kicked off in 2016. Today, it has different pools for everyone. From the large slides standing three stories tall to the shallow pools and the lap pools, everyone can enjoy a day at the hot springs now that it’s better than it’s ever been. The pools are open every day from 10 am until 10 pm.
