In Ouray or around Ouray, the weekends are always full of events and this weekend will continue the trend. This Saturday, the Ouray County Sneffels Fiber Art Festival is making its sixth appearance, showcasing an extensive selection of handmade wearable clothes and art all meticulously made by talented individuals promoting their art. Visitors are more than welcome to try on the clothes and walk out with their new “threads”, practically guaranteeing they will be the only ones with that particular item of clothing.
Among the various goals of the Sneffels Fiber Art Festival, it aims to raise funds for the Weehawken Creative Arts, an Ouray County-based arts education center nonprofit which has assisted individuals with transforming their lives using the power of art. In addition to the multitude of artists and vendors promoting their distinct fiber artwork, the festival will also have a series of workshops and free demonstrations for amateur artists to gain skills and useful knowledge.
If you would like to attend the Fiber Art Festival, head to the 4-H Events Center at the Ouray County Fairgrounds in Ridgway beginning at 9 am. The suggested donation is just $3 which is going towards funding a great cause.
