Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone! Have you visited the Ridgway Farmers Market yet? It’s too late to get your ingredients for whatever long weekend meals you intend to prepare, but you can at least be ready for when the market returns next Friday.
For those of you that have no clue what we’re talking about, let’s elaborate a bit.
The Ridgway Farmers Market began eighteen years ago courtesy of a woman named Jane Bennett. It was originally formed as away to promote and encourage Colorado agriculture, particularly in the Western Slope. The market would concentrate on being an inexpensive, accessible venue. The first of these market venues debuted on Sunday, July 9, 2000 over at the Ouray County Fairgrounds in Ridgway. Fast forward to 2012 and the market has since moved to Ridgway’s Hartwell Park.
As a farmers market, you can expect to find just about anything you might need to make a great meal at the Ridgway Farmers Market. The farm fresh goods at Roots of Yore, seasonal vegetables from Yurstead Farms, dairy products from Grand Mesa Creamery, and baked goods can all be found at the market. It’s not just limited to food; you’re also going to find jewelry, pottery, skincare products, handmade toys, and much more.
Ridgway Farmers Market opens every Friday but its last day for 2018 is October 12. Don’t miss the opportunity to support local agriculture and businesses.
