Winter is in full swing and there are few places in the country better suited to enjoy all of the winter activities than in Colorado, in Ouray to be specific. With the upcoming arrival of the annual Ouray Ice Festival, there will be lots to see and enjoy in the city.
If the Ouray Ice Festival is too far away, you can satisfy your sense of thrills by visiting the Ouray Ice Park which is currently open to the public. In case you’re unfamiliar with the park, it is an ice climbing venue located within walking distance of Ouray. The park features over 200 ice and mixed climbs, three miles of vertical terrain, and it is open to people of all skill levels.
There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into preparing Ouray Ice Park and getting it ready for the public. In November, ice farmers spray water onto the Uncompahgre Gorge walls to create the uniquely shaped walls of water visitors will see. More than two decades since it opened, the park retains strong popularity among ice climbs, outdoor aficionados, and travelers.
This update is provided by The River’s Edge Motel Lodge & Resort.
