Happy Humpday! For those of you that have yet to make weekend plans, the Sherbino Theater over in Ridgway might be worth visiting. The Lique is scheduled to showcase its unique fusion of hip-hop which draws inspiration from such critically adored musical acts like Janelle Monáe and The Roots, the latter known for its jazzy and eclectic take on hip-hop.
The Lique is in the middle of supporting its self-released debut album, Democracy Manifest. The band is comprised of members Rasar (MC), Jason (keys), Sean (guitar), Nick (bass), and Jeremy (drums) and it’s also known for its a spoken word performer. One of the band’s distinctive traits is its ability to reinforce a powerful stage presence based around telling a story. As is the case with Janelle Monáe, each member of the band is finely dressed.
The Lique’s origins are mostly in Las Vegas, which is where the members would musically collaborate during a jam session. These sessions yielded fruitful results, with the band being named one of the “10 Acts to Watch in 2016” by Las Vegas Weekly. They were also named “Best Band” by the magazine Vegas Seven.
The Lique will be performing this Friday at the Sherbino Theater. The theater’s address is 604 Clinton Street in Ridgway. You can purchase The Lique’s album via their official website.
