For those of you that can appreciate talented guitar work, singer-songwriter and guitarist Sarah McQuaid might be a familiar name. The Spanish born, Chicago raised artist began her career in the late 1990s and has since released five albums, the most recent being this year’s If We Dig Any Deeper It Could Get Dangerous. McQuaid recorded her first three albums in Ireland and joined forces with fellow guitarist and singer-songwriter Michael Chapman to serve as the producer of her fifth album. When she isn’t recording solo material, McQuaid is also a member of the band Mama along with British singer Zoë.
For those that have heard Sarah McQuaid’s work, it is often described as evoking the styles of classic 1970s British folk singers like Sandy Denny and Nick Drake. She is also among the artists that have performed covers of “The First Ever I Saw Your Face”, a song written by singer-songwriter Ewan MacColl and made famous by Grammy-winning singer Roberta Flack in 1972.
Next Thursday, Sarah McQuaid will bring her acclaimed musical talents to the Sherbino Theater over in Ridgway. If you can appreciate genuine musical talent, you may want to check her out and see why she is among the most critically adored musicians in the industry.
