If you’ve ever been to Western Colorado, you’ve probably visited or at least heard of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. The fixture recently celebrated its 90th anniversary and it has welcomed countless visitors since its opening back in 1927.
To commemorate its 90th anniversary, Ouray Hot Springs Pool recently completed a massive remodeling designed to bring some modern improvements to the Ouray mainstay without losing any of its charm. A Pool Improvement Committee was assembled back in 2012 to figure out where improvements should go and how to appeal to future generations. A master plan was devised in 2015 before officially kicking off last year.
Some of the new improvements at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool include additional bench space and perhaps most notably, curved edges to aid in privacy. Curved pools seemingly create a better illusion of privacy versus rectangular pools that feel as if one is having a conversation with everyone occupying the pool.
Additional improvements at Ouray Hot Springs include a greater amount of shaded areas and accessibility options, ADA-compliant additions, and much more. With the remodeling, the pool retains its classic charm while offering a greater variation for active types and those that just want to relax.
