Now that May has officially arrived, the spring weather presents countless opportunities to get outdoors and explore the surroundings. Hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, Ouray and the neighboring areas are brimming with natural sights to explore.
Speaking of hiking, there are a couple of trails that are perfect for exploring during this warm season, beginning with Baby Bath Tubs. Bring your family and friends along and cool off in the “tubs” of water nestled in the rocks. The hike is short and it’s a fantastic spot to admire the stunning natural beauty.
For something unbelievably magnificent, Box Cañon Falls is gorgeous no matter what time of the year it is. Once the snow is gone, the canyon shoots out a burst of waterfall with a thunderous roar. Birdwatchers may also spot the elusive Black Swift tending to its nest.
To the northeast of Box Cañon Falls is Cascade Falls which spectacularly plunges down the side of a canyon. The waterfall is not far from town and there is also a separate trail you can hike towards Upper Cascade Falls.
Remember that many of these trails intersect others, so there will always be an interesting area to explore.
